Feeding suggestions:- For the young, as well as the older hedgehog weighing under 16oz give 1 -2 tablespoons daily as the basic meal to which you may add cooked lean beef or veal (chopped or cut into very small pieces). Beef and / or poultry heart may also be added. The hedgehog loves poultry and hard boiled eggs. For desert, sweet fruit such as pear and banana may be given. The hedgehog also enjoys eating meal-worms. No more than 2 - 3 tablespoons of food may be given to your pet hedgehog per day. Because the hedgehog is nocturnal, the freshly prepared food should be served in a bowl every evening. In the morning, remove any leftover food and wash the food dish with very hot water. Bady Hedgehogs are to fed with a plastic syringe (without needle) filled with a mixture of animal baby powdered milk formula mixed with fennel or camomile tea, every 3 - 4 hours, day and night. Hedgehog youngsters with teeth may be fed as adult hedgehogs; however we suggest that in the beginning you mash the food into a puree consistency (water maybe added, if necessary).
