Keep your fish alive in icy winters. Ensures that an area of the pond surface remains ice free, allowing the exit of potentially lethal toxic gasses into the air, and the entry of fresh oxygen into the pond water.
The idea of using this heater is to create an unfrozen, ice-free area arount the unit. Without this product, ice on the pond surface will prevent normal gaseous exchange, resulting in a build-up of dangerous toxic gases in the pond water. It is not advised to break the ice manually, as the shock waves may seriously harm pond life and fishes.
Made by the makers of the renowned Visitherm, the pond heater is designed for safe and continuous use with the following unique features: robust aluminium cylinder which allows all-round heat distribution, protected by a reinforced plastic casing to prevent thermal and mechanical shocks, making it virtually unbreakable.
The heater is set onto a durable plastic floating disc (10cm) and comes with 10 metre outdoor cable.
In the floating cap there are two indents, where it is possible to add bird food allowing wild birds to eat and drink the unfrozen water in cold harsh winters.
