Acrylic toys are a strong alternative to wooden toys, that parrots
love. Acrylic is a strong and non-toxic carbon/polymer mix. The best
designed toys are those that have moving parts and encourage your birds
to be creative, with the knowledge that it's actions will result in a
treat or food concealed in the toy. These toys are designed with the
knowledge we have of how a Parrot thinks and what stimulates them.
The fundamental rule that a Parrot keeper should keep in mind when
buying toys, is the size of his or her bird. It is also important that
the toys are changed regularly, because Parrots will tire of something,
especially if it doesn't break easily! The Parrot also needs breaks
between each toy, so to keep it's interest at a high level all the
time, then the toy is always fresh and interesting.
Some Parrot keepers say that Acrylic toys look too colourful and
unrealistic, but you only need to see the birds reaction when playing,
to see how much they enjoy bright colours, to convince you to continue
to offer your favourite pet such toys.
